WEC 34 "Faber vs Pulver" is set to go off tonight at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, CA. The main card will be available live on Versus at 9pm ET/PT.
The main event of the night features the biggest featherweight bout in the history of the sport as Jens "Lil Evil" Pulver goes to war with Urijah Faber for the WEC featherweight title. Also featured on the stacked card is top ten ranked bantamweight, Miguel "Angel" Torres defending his belt against Yoshiro Maeda and the return of "Razor" Rob McCullough who will take on Kenneth Alexander.

- Jose Aldo vs Alexandre Nogueira (Aldo wins via TKO (Strikes) at 3:22 in the 2nd round)

Short Recap of the Prelims
- Charlie Valencia vs Dominick Cruz: Cruz got the best of Valencia in round one, rocking Charlie with a knee and following with a flurry of punches. Valencia survives the onslaught and returns the favor in round two hurting Cruz with a combination. At one round a piece Cruz gets the better of the stand up in the third and takes the Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).
- Jose Aldo vs Alexandre Nogueira: Aldo got the better of Nogueira in round one, fending off multiple takedown attempts and coming forward with punches and kicks. After shooting for a takedown in round two, Alexandre paid the price ending up on his back and absorbing multiple blow including an elbow that cut him. Aldo finishes him off in full mount and the ref stops the fight.
- Alex Serdyukov vs Luis Sapo: After trading shots for most of the round, Serdyukov takes advantage of a slip by Sapo that allows him to jump into side control. He quickly moves into mount and finishes the round with a barrage of punches. Luis is unable to continue and the fight is called off after one round.
- Tim McKenzie vs Jeremy Lang: After escaping a guillotine attempt from Lang in the first and down two rounds to none, McKenzie turns the tables in the third and finishes off Lang with a guillotine of his own in less than a minute.
- Chase Beebe vs Will Ribeiro: Beebe escaped multiple choke attempts during an action packed first round. Beebe took control in the second landing some nice punches and elbows on the ground. Ribeiro was more aggressive in the standup and pressed forward in the third but Beebe ended the round with some good ground and pound. It could have went either way but Ribeiro takes the Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).
- Jeff Curran vs Mike Brown: After a lot of clinching, Brown lands a nice flurry on the ground and gets the better of Jeff in the first. Curran spends most of round two on his back defending and absorbing shots from Mike. More GnP from Brown in the third to secure the Unanimous Decision. All three judges scored it 30-27.
- Donald Cerrone vs Danny Castillo: On his back after a Castillo takedown, Cerrone misses with one armbar attempt, but locks it in tight the second time and Castillo verbally taps only a minute and a half into the bout.
WEC 34 Main Card Play by Play Commentary (Card subject to change)
Kenneth Alexander vs Rob McCullough (Lightweight Bout)
- Round 1: After a minute of feeling each other out, Kenneth shoots in for a takedown but Rob reverses and ends up on top. Alexander is quickly back to his feet with no offense from McCullough. Kenneth lands a good straight left and another good shot. The crowd starts to boo as neither fighter is really engaging much with strikes. Besides a couple of low leg kicks, Rob hasn’t done much of anything so far. Alexander shoots for a single but misses the takedown. Rob now bleeding under his right eye from that straight left I presume. The round ends with boos from the restless crowd.

- Round 2: They trade strikes and Kenneth uses a body lock to take Rob down. McCullough gets right back to his feet. Kenneth drops levels and misses the shot. Rob signals for Kenneth to bring it yet he isn’t doing anything either. Alexander throws a head kick. They finally trade a couple of shots. Rob sticks him with a jab and follows with a leg kick. The crowd still boos. Alexander misses with a combo. Kenneth shoots and almost catches a knee but gets the takedown momentarily. Back on their feet, Alexander scores another takedown into half guard but there is only 10 seconds left on the clock. The round ends with nothing happening. It has been an uneventful fight so far.

- Round 3: Kenneth’s corner tells him in between rounds that they like the slow pace. Rob throws a nice combo. They exchange but neither is landing much. The crowd begins to chant "Fight, Fight, Fight". McCullough lands a kick but the pace is still extremely slow. Rob lands a low leg kick. The fighters clinch up against the fence. Rob throws a knee and another. Alexander takes a knee to the groin and action is stopped. Action continues and Alexander misses with a head kick. Kenneth shoots but Rob denies and they clinch. McCullough lands a kick and misses with a jumping knee. Rob stuffs a shot and lands another kick. Alexander takes down Rob into full guard. Rob stands up and they are back to the stand up. McCullough stuffs another shot. Rob misses with a superman punch to finish the round and the crowd boos. It was an extremely lackluster fight for both fighters especially considering Rob’s aggressive nature.

Chuck Grigsby vs Mark Munoz (Light Heavyweight Bout)
- Round 1: Chuck starts to work his jab. Munoz shoots and Grigsby sprawls grabbing the head of Mark. Chuck starts to stalk Mark. He throws a couple of shots and Munoz drops down for a shot. He takes him down into side control. Grigsby easily gets back full guard from Munoz who lands a couple of short shots. Grigsby works for a triangle throwing up his legs. Munoz comes down from way back with a right hand and follows with more strikes. Mark comes down with another big punch and Chuck is bleeding a little from his lip now. Chuck goes for a kimura but Mark escapes. Now in side control he starts to land some heavy shots. Standing up Munoz comes down with another big right hand that lands. He does the same thing again and follows with 4 or 5 vicious right hands prompting the ref to jump in and stop the fight.

- Final Result: Mark Munoz wins via KO (Strikes) at 4:15 in the 1st round.
Yoshiro Maeda vs Miguel Torres (Bantamweight Title Bout)
- Round 1: Miguel throws a kick that Maeda catches and uses to take Torres to the ground. Torres is right back to his feet. Yoshiro throws a head kick. Torres comes in like a man possessed with a kick followed by some knees. Miguel lands a right and slips. After an exchange they clinch and Miguel lands a knee. Torres pulls guard and immediately sinks in an omaplata. Maeda escapes and they are back to their feet. Miguel lands a nice leg kick Torres is starting to land some nice shots. They trade knees in the clinch. Miguel pulls guard again and uses his heel to kick Maeda’s back. Miguel goes for a leg but they stand back up and exchange with Maeda swinging for the fences. Torres is bloodied up pretty good. He lands a good knee and a kick and the round ends.

- Round 2: Yoshiro cracks a good leg kick. Maeda catches a kick from Miguel, drops him to the mat and starts kicking away. Yoshiro taunts Miguel with a smile and Torres responds with an up kick. Back on their feet Maeda gives Torres a pound for his efforts. Miguel comes in with a combo and Maeda returns. Torres lands a good body kick. They exchange more hard shots. Miguel lands another big body kick. They clinch and Miguel lands a big knee and another followed by a vicious combination. He lands more big knee and some vicious uppercuts. Maeda returns with his own big strikes. Maeda gets the takedown and goes for a leg lock. He sinks in a toe hold and applies pressure. Torres drops back for a toe hold of his own and the crowd erupts as both fighters are going for submissions. Maeda lands a couple of back elbows in the scramble. Torres sinks in a triangle but has no arm. Back to their feet they continue to bang. They clinch and Torres sinks in the guillotine. He drops down into full mount and starts to reign down some elbows. Maeda gives up his back and Miguel comes down with more elbows and some solid right hands.

- Round 3: They start to exchange in the beginning of the third. Maeda lands a nice left hand. Torres comes in with a big combo landing some solid shots. Yoshiro’s face on the left side is swelling up bad from Torres’s solid jab. Miguel lands a nice round house to the body. Maeda comes in with another nice combo. They scramble and Yoshiro ends up on top coming down with punches. Miguel attempts a triangle with Maeda in his full guard. Yoshiro lets him up and his left eye is now completely swollen shut. Miguel lands a beautiful right hand and the ref takes a good look at Maeda. They trade kicks and the rounds ends. The fight is stopped in between rounds due to Maeda’s swollen left eye. Miguel retains the WEC bantamweight title.

Urijah Faber vs Jens Pulver (Featherweight Title Bout)
- Round 1: Faber strikes first rushing in with a wild punch. Urijah lands a nice straight right and they clinch. Faber goes high with a head kick. Once again they clinch. Faber throws a knee. Faber lands an uppercut and a right hand. Urijah lands a few more big rights. Urijah throws a wild kick and slips allowing Jens on top in full guard. Urijah lands an up kick and springs to his feet. Pulver takes an inadvertent poke in the eye. They continue to trade with Faber getting the better of the strikes. Pulver comes in with a combo followed by a couple of knees to the body. Urijah tees off on Jens who smiles. Pulver gets the back of Urijah up against the cage. Jens throws his best combo so far. They finish the round trading shots.

- Round 2: Faber lands a punch and then follows with a kick right to the family jewels. The action is paused momentarily. Urijah shoots and takes down Pulver into full guard up against the cage. He lands a big elbow while Jens holds on. Pulver gets back to his feet and they are back to the middle of the cage. They trade and the crowd starts to chant "Faber, Faber". Urijah lands a vicious left hook that rocks Lil Evil. Pulver stumbles down to the mat and Faber pounces on him unleashing with a flurry of punches to the head. Jens holds on for dear life but Faber isn’t letting up. Up against the cage, Urijah tees off, unloading with a vicious assault of strikes. Pulver comes back and lands a big combo of his own. Jens lands a good uppercut and tags him with a left. Faber takes him down. Pulver works the head lock and Faber reverses getting Pulver’s back for a second. Urijah lands a big right and a big left. Pulver comes back with some more good shots. Faber lands a couple more nice right hands to finish the round.

- Round 3: Pulver starts things off with a big head kick. Faber shoots and Jens sprawls. Urijah takes his back and slams Pulver to the mat. They are back to their feet where the start to trade. Faber lands more good punches. Pulver lands a brutal body kick followed by a big punch. Faber lands a couple of body kicks of his own. Urijah shoots but Jens rejects and ends up on top. Pulver lands a couple of elbows to the head. Faber reverses and gains half guard. Faber lands a vicious elbow and another causing Jens to check his forehead to see if he was bleeding. The ref stands them up and the crowd boos. Pulver’s right eye is starting to swell. Faber lands a solid body kick. Pulver comes in with a good combo landing.

- Round 4: Faber shoots but Jens denies and unloads with a flurry of punches up against the cage. They trade some more and Urijah lands a solid body punch. Pulver looks up at the clock as Urijah continues to throw hard strikes. Jens lands a nice combo. They trade hooks and Faber lands another body kick. Faber gets a nice takedown into full guard. He drops a vicious elbow and another. Faber continues to drop elbows on the ground controlling the fight. Pulver is just holding on with no offense. Urijah lands another big elbow and the round comes to an end.

- Round 5: Pulver’s face is severely beaten and bruised as they come out for the last championship round. They give high fives and hug to start the round. Faber throws a body kick and then rushes in for a takedown. Jens denies and they start to exchange with Faber landing his right hand. Urijah lands a solid body kick. Faber lands a sharp left right on Pulver’s swollen eye. Faber lands another brutal body kick followed by a nice combination. Pulver lands a big right hand but Urijah shrugs it off. They continue to bang in the center of the ring. Faber rushes in and takes a couple of good shots from Jens. With one minute left they are still trading and the crowd is on it’s feet. They clinch and Faber takes the back of Pulver. Jens gains half guard and Urijah gives the crowd a hang loose sign signifying his victory. With only 10 seconds left, Faber throws a couple of small shots and the fight is over.
