WCO “The Return” Cancelled

I regret to inform you that WCO "The Return" scheduled for January 12 has been cancelled due to funding issues.

RingSideJunkie.com will be issuing full refunds for the full price of the ticket. Their site says to allow 30 days to receive your refund due to the large volume of sales that must now be reprocessed and refunded.

The event was cancelled by the California State Athletic Commission after they learned that funding had not been secured to pay the fighters competing on the card.

 

"At the eleventh hour, the commission was informed there were insufficient funds to pay the fighters," CSAC executive director Armando Garcia told Sherdog.com. "In the end, we had to cancel the event."

WCO officials made a last ditch attempt to save the event by applying for a promoter’s license but there was not enough time. In a conversation with Sherdog, Garcia from the San Diego Sports Arena box-office, said that sales were extremely low for the event.

This is a huge blow to the fighters as well as the fans that were anticipating this event. I will keep you informed on the latest news regarding this issue. More mixed martial arts news is coming your way!
