Breaking news has been reported regarding UFC 85 "Liddell vs Evans". MMARated just reported that Chuck Liddell injured himself and will not be fighting at UFC 85 in London against "The Ultimate Fighter 2" winner, Rashad Evans. The bout will most likely be rescheduled for later in the summer depending on the seriousness of Chuck’s injury. This means that Evans will most likely be pulled from the card as well leaving a vacant spot for the main event of UFC 85. The event will most likely not be rescheduled considering over 10,000 tickets have already been sold according to the Wrestling Observer. The UFC has yet to make an official statement regarding the issue. |

The "Iceman" Chuck Liddell was originally slated to fight Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in the main event of UFC 85. Rua was replaced by Rashad Evans after rupturing the ACL in his left knee, the same knee he had surgery on following his fight with Forrest Griffin at UFC 76. Rashad was originally scheduled to meet Thiago Silva inside the cage at UFC 85 until he was picked as Rua’s replacement. This leaves the original co-main event between Brandon Vera and Fabricio Werdum as the highest profile match of the night. The other main card televised bouts include Thales Leites vs Nate Marquardt, Martin Kampmann vs Jorge Rivera and Marcus Davis vs Mike Swick. Update: According to Sherdog, who confirmed the injury, Liddell has a badly torn hamstring. Multiple sources also tell Sherdog that James Irvin could possibly replace Liddell to fight Rashad Evans at UFC 85. Stand by for further developments regarding Chuck’s injury and replacements for UFC 85’s main event. |
