Inside MMA announced on Friday that Tim "The Maine-iac" Sylvia will be leaving the UFC and has signed a contract with new upstart organization "Adrenaline MMA".

Monte Cox’s new promotion Adrenaline MMA, formerly known as M-1 Global, recently changed it’s name following much confusion involving Fedor Emelianenko’s signing status. Cox says the organization aims to give up and coming fighters a chance on the big stage.

Also under contract with the new organization is IFL veteran, Ben Rothwell who sat beside Sylvia during Inside MMA’s interview with Ron Kruk.

Tim Sylvia still has one fight remaining under his contract with the UFC and claims that he left the number one mma organization on good terms. Sylvia also said that he would like to return to the UFC possibly in a couple of years.

Adrenaline MMA has also announced their debut event into the now crowded landscape of upstart mma organizations. The event will take place on June 14 at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, IL. Headlining the event will be "The Snowman" Jeff Monson taking on veteran Mike Russow who is currently on a five fight winning streak.

Monson who is 24-7 last fought at PFP’s "Ring of Fire" event in December of 07 where he defeated Hakim Goram via unanimous decision. At 37 years old he is still dangerous and looks to prove himself as one of the elite heavyweight fighters still in the game. Monson had his chance at UFC gold back in November of 2006 at UFC 65 against Tim Sylvia where he lost a hard fought 5 round decision to the 6′8 giant.

Jeff’s opponent, Mike Russow is coming off of a big win over Red Devil fighter, Roman Zentsov, at the New Years Eve Yarennoka event. He submitted the heavy handed Russian with a north south choke in under 3 minutes of the very first round. The quick and impressive finish of such a tough opponent for sure made a statement in the heavyweight division. Of his 11 fights he has only suffered one loss which came at the hands of Sergei Kharitonov, an extremely fierce and ruthless fighter who made his mark in the former Pride organization.

I will keep you posted as soon as more bouts are announced for the card. Stay tuned for more hardcore MMA news!
