According to Anderson Silva’s manager Ed Soares, "The Spider" is already looking past his light heavyweight debut against James Irvin on July 19th.

According to Soares, who appeared as a guest on today’s edition of Tagg Radio, Silva’s next fight will be a title defense against Yushin Okami, assuming all goes well in the fight with Irvin.

A date for the fight will not be determined until after July 19th and will depend on the status of Silva’s health. However rumors are surfacing that the UFC is targeting UFC 88 on September 6th in Atlanta.

Silva has been on a virtual "Rampage" since joining the UFC midway through 2006. He has dismissed six straight fighters in a row defeating all of them via stoppage in two rounds or less. He has disposed of some of the middleweight divisions top dogs including Rich Franklin twice, Dan Henderson, Nate Marquardt and Travis Lutter.

While the 185lb mixed martial arts sensation could be the first to own belts in two divisions simultaneously, he has made it clear that the 205lb crown is not on his agenda. Silva’s manager confirmed that Silva has no intentions of fighting his friend and cohort, Lyoto Machida, who would most likely be an obstacle on his path to the title.

"[Silva] doesn’t want to make a run at the (light-heavyweight) championship because his friend Lyoto is in the line for it," Soares said. "He doesn’t want to fight Lyoto, and Lyoto doesn’t want to fight him."

For now his focus will remain on the division that made him a star. He is more interested in putting on exciting events that owning belts in two divisions.

He’ll probably fight in UFC 90.
UFC 88 already has Chuck Liddell, Dan Henderson and Rich Franklin and UFC 89 is a spikeTV event, Dana wouldn’t put Silva in two free events in a row.
I like Okami, I think he deserves the title shot, not the title, just the shot, of course Anderson will make him look like an amateur as he has with all the other top contenders.

Thats a possibility, I guess we will have to wait and see. I like Okami as well. I don’t think Silva will make him look like an amateur though. Okami is great at shutting down his opponent’s offense. I think Silva will probably win but via decision.

shoot I hope its ufc 88 , so we can see him live and in person, so hopefully he takes out irvin quick and comes out with no injuries.

that’s the problem Todd.
Every time I think, hey this guy has the tools to neutralize Anderson, I sit back and watch the guy get his a$$ kicked.
I thought Travis Lutter would give him trouble. WRONG!!
I thought Nate Marquardt would give him trouble. WRONG!!
I definitely thought Dan Henderson would give him trouble. WRONG!!
I’m tired of thinking against him, I have come to realize that he can beat the devil if the devil could cut weight to 185lbs.

True but after seeing what he did to Leben the only person I thought would give him any trouble is Hendo. I was pretty much expecting him to demolish Lutter and Marquardt.

Like I said, he will probably beat Okami but I think it will go the distance. Okami is a lot stronger than anyone else he has faced except for maybe Hendo.

That would be a good fight though “The Devil” vs “The Spider”. I’d put my money on “The Spider”.
