On October 25th, Anderson Silva’s 2008 Annihilation Tour will blow through Chicago, Ill, for the first time ever to present UFC 90 at the Allstate Center. Their, Silva will take on the only fighter who claims to "not be scared of him one bit," Patrick Cote. Cote is anxious to take the belt home to Montreal and says that while it will take Silva 10 punches to take him down, he only needs one. |

Strong words to say about a man that has blitzkrieged his way through his last seven straight UFC opponents in two rounds or less. We can only pray that Cote fairs better than "The Sandman" who was disposed of in 61 seconds flat. That being said, Cote has shown dramatic improvements all around in his last three UFC fights. Ever since his disappointing first round loss to Travis Lutter at The Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale, Cote has been on a tear taking out some top notch competition along the way. His three most recent victims include Kendall Grove, Drew McFedries, and Ricardo Almeida. Cote will have to bring more than his A game if he plans on dethroning the best striker in MMA. While his striking has been crisp in his last few fights, he lacks the speed and precision of Silva’s finely tuned arsenal which can render you defenseless in a matter of seconds. If he takes Silva to the ground it’s more of the same which only leaves one option; the air. In order for Cote to defeat "The Spider" he must do so in the air. It will be the only place that Silva is somewhat vulnerable. He must spend the entire 25 minutes of the fight suspended in mid-air. He will have to execute superman punches, flying roundhouse kicks, jumping side kicks, flying armbars, flying scissor kicks etc…the whole fight to defeat the champ. It’s the only way. What game plan would you advise Cote to use to defeat "The Spider?" |

lol. I think Anderson is still better than Cote with flying spinning roundhouse heel hook armbars and fire breathing. Cote needs to bring a knife to the fight and stab him from the guard and hope noone sees to have a chance to win.
They kept mentioning his powerful right hand in his last fight, but I guarantee it’s nowhere near as powerful as Dan Henderson’s right and look what happened to him, plus he rearranged Irvin’s face with one quick right hand to his mouth.
Cote should instead try to beat Travis Lutter’s record of almost making it to the end of the second round agaisnt Anderson. Marquardt couldn’t do it, Franklin couldn’t do it, twice, Henderson couldn’t do it, Leben couldn’t do it, Irvin couldn’t do it, Cote won’t be able to do it.
hahaha i love it, “all 25 minutes suspended in air”. thats awesome…
I’m telling you man, it’s his only shot.
