shogun rampage

Sparks could fly in December when former Chute Box member Mauricio "Shogun" Rua returns to the cage in December at UFC 92 for a possible meeting with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.

According to a recent interview with the Brazilian website Tatame.com, the former Pride fighter has accepted a fight with "Rampage" Jackson who has had multiple run-ins with the law over the past couple of months. While Rua claims that nothing has been signed, MMABay.co.uk is reporting that bout agreements have been signed by both fighters.

MMA Bay also claims that the UFC is waiting until after they reveal their November card to announce the highly anticipated match up.

Shogun has been plagued by injuries since his upset loss to Forrest Griffin at UFC 76 all the way back in September of 2007. His injury kept him out of a bout with Chuck Liddell at UFC 85. According to Tatame, "Shogun" is all healed up and ready for his December return.

“I’m back to training. I’m doing some Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu stuff, and thanks God everything is fine now”

"Shogun" will be joined at UFC 92 by his long time friend and former Chute Box training partner Wanderlei Silva who was told by UFC officials to prepare for a December return. The UFC has plans to close out the year with a bang putting on their best card of the year. With Rua, Silva and Jackson in the mix, the stars seem to be aligning for such a card.

Jackson seems to be walking around with a target on his back as both Rua and Silva want a piece of the former light heavyweight champ. Since Rua will most likely be fighting Jackson, rumors have surfaced that Silva could face the current light heavyweight champ Forrest Griffin. There have also been rumors of a bout between Anderson Silva and Chuck Liddell.

The main event of UFC 92 will feature a battle between the coaches of "The Ultimate Fighter 8" Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira who will go to war for the interim UFC heavyweight title.
