phil baroni signs elitexc deal

ProElite.com announced today that Phil Baroni has signed a non-exclusive, multi-year contract with EliteXC.

"The New York Badass" Phil Baroni is currently also signed with Strikeforce but EliteXC is allowing him to continue fighting with that organization as well. The financial terms of his contract have not been disclosed.

Baroni will make his EliteXC debut on March 15 with the Hawaii based Icon Sport Promotion. Baroni will be looking to bounce back from his disappointing loss to Frank Shamrock at the Strikeforce "Shamrock vs Baroni" event last June. Baroni showed his heart in that fight but was outclassed at least technically by Frank Shamrock who was anything but respectful in the cage.

Shamrock taunted Phil even throwing up a "v" for victory sign with his fingers to the photographer while Baroni was in his full guard.

Baroni is known for his boisterous attitude and crowd pleasing entrances. He is excited about the new deal and will no doubt be fighting his heart out come March 15 inside the cage.

“I’m looking forward to returning to the cage and kicking (butt),’’

“Everybody knows I got hurt early and couldn’t do everything I wanted to do against Shamrock. But I’m 100 percent now, ready for anybody. I pity the guy I fight next, or the one after that. Trust me, everybody is going to pay from here on out.’’

Baroni is coming off of a six month suspension by the California State Athletic Commission for testing positive for Boldenone and Stanzolol steroid Metabolites. Luckily for Baroni the suspension was reduced from the one year originally handed to him. He was also fined $2,500 for his actions. Phil denied taking the substances and received the reduced suspension after filing an appeal to the CSAC.
