According to Yahoo! Sports, "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz will be making his way East to Sin City on October 11th to take on the crafty Renato "Babalu" Sobral in the co-main event of Affliction’s encore show.

In true Tito fashion, dollar signs seem to be the biggest hurdle in signing the controversial fighter according to Affliction’s VP Tom Atencio. Atencio would not confirm the bout between Ortiz and Babalu but said that fight card details would be revealed during a news conference on August 6th.

Ortiz was in attendance at Affliction’s recent debut, sitting next to none other than the Trump man himself. The two have been friends since "The Apprentice."

The match up works out perfectly for Sobral who told MMAJunkie that a fight with Ortiz is his "dream fight."

"I’m looking for another guy. Wait for the name. It’s coming. I think (Affliction Vice President) Tom (Atencio) is going to bring a name for me. And I’ll be here to kick his ass."

Sobral was victorious in his Affliction debut, outclassing Mike Whitehead to walk away with the unanimous decision.

Tito’s last fight with the place he called home for over 10 years, was at UFC 84 on May 24th against Lyoto Machida. Ortiz didn’t get the going away party he expected, losing to Machida via unanimous decision. His 60-day non-compete clause expired on July 23rd making him eligible to sign with a new organization less than a week ago.

Affliction’s October 11th show will take place in the UFC’s back yard at the Thomas & Mack Center in Vegas. In the main event, Fedor Emelianenko will defend his newly acquired world heavyweight title against "The Pitbull" Andrei Arlovski.

this should be an even better ppv for Affliction. I’m not a big fan of Tito, but he sells tickets. That along with Fedor vs Arlovski should do good numbers.
If they claim to have sold well over 100,000 ppvs the first time then I would think this may be well over 200,000.
Good for Affliction. If they are going to compete, this is how they are going to do it. Not by trying to build their own fighters but by hiring the crowd favorites.

and they still have the possibility of getting Randy Couture as well.

I agree so far so good. It’s definitely a step up from Renato vs Whitehead and the main is way better. It will be interesting to see how Arlovski approaches this fight (like with a machine gun maybe).

Yeah I doubt they got over 100,000 but if they did 200,000 that would be amazing. Anyways I’m looking forward to it. Can’t wait to see the rest of the match ups.
