American Top Team has confirmed that their fighter Yves Edwards will be fighting KJ Noons on April 26 in Honolulu for the EliteXC title.

Yves had talked about the possibility of fighting his friend at EliteXC "Street Certified after his impressive knockout victory over heel lock specialist Edson Berto. Edwards dropped Berto in stunning fashion with a jumping knee while balancing on his right leg. He literally trademarked a new move. In his post fight interview Yves talked about how he could put their friendship aside for five rounds and fight Noons for the title.

"It is never fun to fight a friend, but if you are not in this business to win world titles, you are in the wrong business. He’s got that gold, and I have to go through him to get it."

Noons who recently took some flack for declining a rematch with Nick Diaz, has apparently accepted the fight with Edwards. Noons won EliteXC’s very first lightweight championship belt against Diaz back in November of 07. Diaz was heavily favored to win but was unfortunately stopped due to cuts after one round of action.

Nick Diaz obviously want’s another shot to prove that he is the true lightweight champion of EliteXC and I believe KJ should give it to him. There is only one reason Noons declined to fight Diaz again and I think we know why. Another smart decision would have been to let Diaz and Edwards fight to see who gets the title shot with Noons. What is your opinion on this matter?
