Filed Under (Kid Yamamoto) by RedSweat

According to the Sports Navigator, "Kid" Yamamoto will be out of commission for the remainder of the year due to a ligament tear in his knee that he suffered during a sparring session.

This is the same injury that prevented him from competing in DREAM.5 a couple weeks ago. The injury was originally diagnosed as a partial ligament tear but has since been re-diagnosed as a complete tear which is much more serious.

"Kid" went under the blade yesterday to repair the ligament. The surgery was a success and "Kid" is expected to make a full recovery within a year.

Yamamoto hasn’t fought since New Years Eve when he took out Rani Yahya via punches and kicks at K-1’s "Premium 2007 Dynamite." He is on an amazing 14 fight win streak that includes victories over the likes of Royler Gracie, Caol Uno, and Genki Sudo.

"Kid’s" one and only loss came at the hands of Stephen Palling at a Shooto event in May of 2002. Yamamoto was controlling the fight when it was stopped at the 30-second mark due to a cut that he received on a double leg shot.
