While the 21 year old lacks the experience in MMA, Japan is known for putting on spectacle type fights, pitting famous pro-wrestlers or gold medallist’s against top tier fighters with the end result usually the same. With New Years Eve around the corner and Fedor’s hand injury healing up, anything is possible. Fedor has competed in five of Japan’s New Years Eve shows with three of them being against "less than stellar" competition. He has even been criticized in the past for fighting "unqualified" opponents. Two fights ago Fedor was paired up with the 7′2 367lb South Korean Hong Man Choi on New Years Eve 2007. Choi went into the fight with only one mixed martial arts fight and was arm barred in less than two minutes. Fedor found some redemption from his critics in his most recent 36-second destruction of #4 ranked Tim Sylvia at Affliction’s debut event "Banned" in July. |
