After speculation that Jake Shields could possibly participate at Affliction "Day of Reckoning" versus a top 5 middleweight (Matt Lindland), it seems that the Gracie black belt has finally found a home for his next fight. MMAWeekly is reporting that the EliteXC welterweight champ and British Cage Rage welterweight champion Paul Daley have both agreed to meet for the coveted title at EliteXC’s third installment of "Saturday Night Fights" on CBS October 4th. Both organizations are under the ProElite, Inc. umbrella. EliteXC Vice President Jared Shaw confirmed that both fighters have verbally agreed to fight and also took a stab at KJ Noons, who appears to be ducking a lightweight title fight with Nick Diaz on the same card. |

The organization is highly frustrated with Noons and issued the fighter a 24-hour deadline to sign the bout agreement with Nick Diaz. If Noons fails to return the agreement signed, Shaw claims that KJ will be "forcing their hand." Shaw then went on the state that if Noons fails to return the agreement signed, EliteXC has the right to extend the term of his contract, which means he would owe them another fight. I don’t think that will be enough to influence Noons to take the fight, but we’ll see. Shaw also debunked rumors that Kimbo Slice’s opponent for Oct. 4th might be Sean Gannon, the fighter that beat "Slice" on one of his popular Youtube fight videos. |
