With EliteXC’s third “Primetime” show right around the corner, the organization is attempting to bring some last minute “Heat” to the event by putting their hottest fighter, Gina Carano, on the “The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson” tonight on CBS.
Carano, who humbly denies she is the “Face of Women’s MMA,” will appear on the show tonight at 12:35 alongside guests Melina Kanakaredes and Marg Helenberger who both work with the hit show CSI.
This Saturday Carano will attempt to keep her perfect 6-0 record alive in a battle against veteran Kelly Kobold-Gavin who has amassed an impressive 16 victories during her 6 year career as a pro.
It will be a tough task for Kobold who in addition to coming off of two back to back losses, will also be battling ring rust after a year-plus hiatus. Kobold’s last loss came at the hands of Julie Kedzie who ironically lost to Carano at EliteXC “Destiny” back in February of 2007.
In the main event this Saturday 44 year old Ken Shamrock will attempt to defy age ala Randy Couture with a victory over “Kimbo Slice.” With only two wins in his last 10 fights, EliteXC’s motives and the outcome are pretty clear. They continue to spoon feed their poster boy with easy fights maintaining the facade of Kimbo’s invincibility.
Perhaps the most anticipated fight on this weekend’s card is a newly added bout between Andrei Arlovski and Roy Nelson which will astonishingly precede the main event. The two fighters are on loan from Affliction who recently postponed their “Day of Reckoning” event to take place sometime in January.
