The fuse is lit for Ed "Short Fuse" Herman as he prepares to take on undefeated Demian Maia at UFC 83 in Montreal, Canada.

UFC.com just tacked on another top level match up to the already stacked card set for April 19 at the Bell Centre bringing the total number of bouts to 11. Featured in the main event will be Matt "The Terra" Serra taking on Georges "Rush" St. Pierre to see who is the undisputed king of the welterweights.

Other anticipated match ups include former middleweight champ, Rich Franklin, taking on "The Serial Killer" Travis Lutter, Nate Quarry vs Kalib Starnes, and Charles McCarthy battling "The Count" Michael Bisping.

"Short Fuse" Herman is on a 3 fight win streak since his loss to Jason McDonald back in October of 2006 at UFC "The Final Chapter". Two of those wins were over big names including a rear naked choke over Scott Smith at UFC 72 and a knockout of Joe Doerksen at UFC 78 "Validation". Ed will be taking on the very talented Brazilian, Demian Maia.

Demian Maia has won all 6 of his pro MMA bouts steamrolling through his competition with 1 TKO, 4 submission and 1 decision. He fights out of Sao Paulo, Brazil and has an extremely tight submission game. His last fight was at UFC 77 in October of 2007 where he defeated Ryan Jensen via rear naked choke in under 3 minutes flat. Only won of his fights had made it past the first round.
