StrikeForce’s "Shamrock vs Le" is shaping up to be one of EliteXC’s strongest cards ever with three championship belts on the line. Added to the growing list of top level fighters already on the card is Nick Diaz taking on Jae Suk Lim and Gilbert Melendez squaring off against Gabe Lemley. "Shamrock vs Le" takes place on Saturday, March 29 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. The main event features the highly anticipated match up between "The Legend" Frank Shamrock and undefeated San Shou master Cung Le. |

Also on the card will be Jake Shields taking on submission specialist, Drew Fickett for the vacant EliteXC welterweight crown, and Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos up against Joey Villasenor in a middleweight showdown. Nick Diaz is coming off of a disappointing loss to KJ Noons at EliteXC "Renegade" back in November. Diaz was extremely upset after the doctor stopped the fight due to cuts on Nick’s face after the first round. Noons blasted Diaz for five minutes throwing some excellent combinations and landing several sharp shots. Diaz landed some nice combinations of his own but they just didn’t have the power behind them that Noons did. This will be Diaz’s third EliteXC event in a row since defeating Mike Aina via decision at EliteXC "Uprising" back in September, 2007. Diaz will be going up against 9-3 Korean, Jae Suk Lim. Lim, known as "The Korean Icepick", has 5 submissions, 3 (T)KO’s, and 1 decision win. He is a veteran of the Spirit MC organization and just fought on March 1, defeating Yoon Young Kim via TKO in the second round. Diaz has definitely faced the tougher competition overall, so it could be a long night for Lim. Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez was undefeated with a record of 13-0 until his last fight against Mitsuhiro Ishida at Yarenokka on New Years Eve. Gilbert lost a unanimous decision to the "king of decisions" after a tough three round war. Melendez will go to battle with 11-6 Gabe Lemley from Ohio. Lemley will be stepping up to take on his toughest test yet in Gilbert who is ranked top five in the world at 155lbs. All in all it is going to be an explosive night of fights at the HP Pavilion on Saturday so don’t miss it. ProElite.com will be streaming the event live. |
