Chris "The Crippler" Leben was sentenced to 35 days behind bars on Thursday less than a month before his bout on June 7th against Michael Bisping. Sherdog.com confirmed the news with the Clackamas County Circuit Court officials in Oregon earlier today. Leben is set to be released from jail on May 27 at 9am less than two weeks before his UFC 85 appearance. |

Chris turned himself in last week for a probation violation in order to assure that he would get his visa, required for his trip to London. He was on probation for a previous DUI arrest back in 2005. Chris entered the jail on Wednesday evening, May 1st, and was not allowed to post bail because of the probation violation. Leben has ended his last two bouts decisively, defeating Terry Martin via knockout at Fight Night 11 and Alessio Sakara via TKO at UFC 82 in the first round. He looks to make it three in a row against "The Count" in Bisping’s own back yard. Chris has only lost three of his 11 total fights since his victory over Jason Thacker at "The Ultimate Fighter Finale over two years ago. Update: The Wrestling Observer confirmed that the Leben vs Bisping fight has been called off. Apparently the UFC already had a back up plan in place in case Chris had to remain in jail for an extended period. Nate Quarry was contacted but couldn’t rise to the occasion because of an elbow injury he suffered during his match with Kalib Starnes in Montreal. |
