Unfortunately, after doing a little research, I have come to find out that fighter salaries for UFC 87 are not going to be released.

Apparently fighter payout’s are not released in Minnesota as part of the state’s freedom of information legislation. At least that is what Scott LeDoux, the executive director of the Minnesota Combative Sports Commission told MMAJunkie.com.

I did read that George St. Pierre is on the same contract as his fight with Hughes when he pulled in $160,000 which means he would have made the same amount. If you combine that with his $60,000 "Fight of the Night" bonus, he would have pocketed a total of $220,000 for the event which is probably pretty accurate.

It’s fair to say that Brock Lesnar was probably the highest paid fighter of the night. At UFC 81 Lesnar pocketed a quarter million and had the opportunity to take another $200,000 if he had won the fight. The former WWE star most likely got paid in upwards of $400,000 for his victory over Herring including his win bonus.

Update: MMAChump has released some rumored payout’s for UFC 87. At the top of the payroll is Brock Lesnar who is rumored to have made a half a million dollars. It’s actually sounds about right considering Lesnar was paid $250,000 to show in his UFC debut and would have earned a $200,000 win bonus if he would have defeated Frank Mir for a total of $450,000.

Rumored UFC 87 Payouts:

  • George St. Pierre ($120,000)
  • Jon Fitch ($30,000)
  • Brock Lesnar ($500,000)
  • Heath Herring ($60,000)

UFC 87 "Seek and Destroy" Bonuses:

  • George St. Pierre ($60,000) - Fight of the Night
  • Jon Fitch ($60,000) - Fight of the Night
  • Rob Emerson ($60,000) - Knockout of the Night
  • Demian Maia ($60,000) - Submission of the Night

UFC 87’s "Seek and Destroy" fight card just got a little more crowded with the addition of four new bouts on the August 9th card.

It appears that all four of the bouts, which were confirmed today on the UFC’s website, will appear on the undercard of the event which features a long awaited main event battle between number one and two welterweights, George St. Pierre and Jon Fitch.

The most exciting addition to the event at Minneapolis’s Target Center is a fight between two extremely talented lightweight prospects, Frankie "The Answer" Edgar and former title challenger, Hermes Franca.

frank edgar

Living up to his nickname, it seemed that Edgar had all the answers leading up to his most recent fight at UFC Fight Night 13 against Xtreme Couture’s Gray Maynard. He had won his first 8 pro fights in a row and was flying high on confidence when he lost to the up and coming wrestler via a unanimous decision. Edgar will look to erase that loss from his memory on August 9th and get back in the win column with a victory over the always dangerous, Hermes Franca.

After dominating the competition in 2006 with 8 straight stoppages is seemed like nothing could go wrong for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu artist, Hermes Franca. Unfortunately 2007 would turn out a little different for the Orlando native. After losing to Sean Sherk in a title fight at UFC 73, Franca tested positive for Steroids and was suspended from competition for a full year. This will be his first fight back in the UFC since that July 7th fight.

The three other bouts confirmed for the card include, Cheick Kongo vs Dan Everson, Chris Wilson vs Steve Bruno and Ben Saunders vs Jared Rollins. The Saunders vs Rollins fight was originally suppose to happen at UFC 86 but was pushed back for reasons unknown.

The "Texas Crazy Horse" Heath Herring has been confirmed by MMAJunkie.com as Mark Coleman’s replacement in the upcoming UFC 87 match against Brock Lesnar in August.

Coleman was forced to withdrawal from the bout after suffering a knee injury during training. This could be the end for the UFC Hall of Famer, who recently denounced his retirement after hanging up his gloves in October of 2006. It has been over 10 years since "The Hammer" competed in the UFC.

Due to Coleman’s absence in the bout against Lesnar, a championship match between welterweight champ, George St. Pierre and number one contender, Jon Fitch, has been designated as the main event on August 9th.

UFC 87 "Seek and Destroy" will take place at the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN.

Herring will look to hand Lesnar, former WWE star and Two Time NJCAA All-American wrestler, his second UFC loss in a row since debuting in the organization back in February. Lesnar looked good in his debut against former UFC heavyweight champ, Frank Mir, until finally succumbing to a first round knee bar at the minute thirty mark.

Heath Herring, known for his battles in the early days of Pride, came to the UFC in early 2007. He struggled in his first two bouts but finally came around losing a hard fought battle to Minotauro Nogueira in his third and defeating Cheick Kongo via decision in his last. At 2-2 in the UFC, a win over Lesnar, is just what the "Crazy Horse" needs to continue on strong in the heavyweight division.

MMAJunkie also reported over the weekend that Clay Guida would take on Mac Danzig at UFC 87.

After months of speculation, the much anticipated match up between welterweight champion, George St. Pierre, and number one contender, Jon Fitch, has finally been confirmed.

"Rush" St. Pierre will defend his title for the first time since defeating Matt Serra and recapturing welterweight gold at UFC 83 in April. It will be one of his most challenging matches to date as he takes on one of the UFC’s toughest adversaries and former Division 1 wrestler, Jon Fitch.

The bout will headline UFC 87 "Seek and Destroy" which is scheduled to take place on August 9th at the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN.

Fitch is a scrappy fighter who is on an eight fight win streak in the UFC, something that has only been accomplished by the legend himself, Royce Gracie. St. Pierre agrees that Fitch is top notch and will definitely not take him lightly.

“He’s a very, very tough guy,” said St-Pierre of Fitch. “I’m gonna have to train hard and be very well prepared because he may be my toughest fight yet.”

Former WWE star and two time All American, Brock Lesnar, was originally suppose to face UFC Hall of Famer, Mark Coleman, in the main event at UFC 87 but the bout was scrapped after the "Hammer" sustained a serious knee injury. Coleman, who denounced his retirement at UFC 82, tore his MCL during training. Though the injury won’t require surgery, Mark will be sidelined for a period of six weeks. A new opponent for Lesnar will be announced soon.

Another marquee bout was added to the fledgling UFC 87 fight card this week as well. In a lightweight battle that could easily steal the show on August 9th in Minneapolis, Kenny "Ken-Flo" Florian will take on UFC poster boy, Roger "El Matador" Huerta. Exuding "Fight of the Night" potential, this highly anticipated match up will most likely determine a future challenger for the 155lb title.
