I can’t believe I am actually typing this but yes Quinton Jackson has been arrested again the day after he led cops on a high speed chase in California.

Ok Jackson slow down, I can’t even keep up with your arrests on my blog. At least keep the arrest down to like once a week if you can?

According to sources, an Irvine cop passing by was flagged down at around 4:30pm on Wednesday. A relative or acquaintance then told the officer that they were "concerned about some alarming statements and unusual behavior he was exhibiting."

Apparently the police saw Jackson, determined that he was a danger to himself and others, and took him to the hospital for observation. Jackson was very cooperative with the police.

This is not even 24 hours after he was supposedly bailed out of jail by UFC President Dana White for $25,000. Jackson was arrested at gun-point yesterday after an alleged hit-and-run incident on a California highway. He faces multiple charges including felony evading, hit-and-run and reckless driving.

Update: According to NBCSports.com, Rampage was admitted to the hospital for a mental health evaluation and has not been charged with a crime.

Update #2: According to a friend close to Jackson, he has slept and ate little over the last couple of days. Sherdog.com has also released some more details regarding his stay at the hospital.

It is believed that Jackson is being held for 72-hour observation under standard protocol for “5150” detainees, which is law enforcement vernacular for a “mentally unstable” individual. During the three-day period, the patient is not able to check himself out of medical custody while an evaluation is made. Medical officials could extend that period if they deem the patient is mentally unfit.

We will post updates as soon as more details become available.

Apparently things aren’t going well for the former UFC light heavyweight champion, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, who recently lost his belt to rival TUF coach Forrest Griffin at UFC 86.

A bystander on a California highway snapped these shots of the former champ being arrested today at gun-point for an alleged hit-and-run incident that followed with a high speed chase. During the chase, Rampage apparently hit multiple cars until finally succumbing to the police after completely losing his front left tire. No injuries were reported following the incident.

Jackson faces multiple felony charges and could be in court as early as Thursday. His bail has been set at $25,000 according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.

"He was arrested for violation of felony evading, hit-and-run and reckless driving," Lt. Dondero said.

After his arrest, Jackson was transported to the Orange County central jail which is where he is currently being held. Stand by for more updates as they become available.

Update: Here is the exclusive "Rampage" arrest video courtesy of TMZ.

Update #2: MMAJunkie has confirmed with the Costa Mesa Police Department that Quinton Jackson has posted his bail and left the Orange County Jail. Dana White apparently flew to California via private jet on Tuesday to post the former champs $25,000 bail.

The Costa Mesa Police Department also released a press release regarding the alleged incident. Here is a snippet from that press release.

According to a press release from the Costa Mesa Police Department, Jackson ignored an officer’s directions to pull over and continued "weaving in and out of traffic" while forcing "pedestrians to flee for their lives" as he continued "running several red lights."

Update #3: According to the Long Beach Press-Telegram, Jackson’s court date has been set for Friday, August 15th. He is scheduled to appear at the Harbor Justice Center in Laguna Niguel where he will face felony charges.

rampage jackson

I read an interesting article on UFC.com about Team Rampage’s thoughts on the upcoming Liddell Silva fight on December 29. I wanted to discuss the comments he made during the interview.

First of all let me just start off by saying that I like Quinton Rampage Jackson and I think he is a good fighter. But he is the last person I thought that would be making excuses for a fight. There is no one to blame for losing a fight except yourself.

Here is a short excerpt of his quotes during the interview.

Rampage: “That’s not the way it goes,” said Jackson. “I guarantee you that if I would have fought Silva both times in the UFC, I would have won.”

Interviewer: Because of the Octagon as opposed to the PRIDE ring?

Rampage: “Not the cage, the referees,” he said. “I guarantee I would have beaten him.”

This is what happened with the referees in their first meeting. After taking down Silva at the beginning of the first round and throwing a couple of body punches, Rampage got upset when the referee quickly stood them up and restarted the fighters in the center of the ring. Wanderlei then proceeded to throw vicious knees and kicks that quickly ended the fight a few minutes later.

Their second fight was similar with a questionable reset. Both fighter’s were actually issued yellow cards for inactivity on the ground in the first round. In the second round Silva rocked him with a couple of right hooks and ended it with a knee to the head. Rampage claims the right hook is what did it.

I can kind of see where he is coming from but there is no excuse for losing a fight. He was dominated in the stand up and he can’t say for sure that he would have kept Silva down if the ref didn’t reset the fighters. I think the only reason he lost those fights was because he got beat by the better man both nights. Silva was unstoppable back then and I don’t think it would have mattered either way.
