Here is round 3 of RedSweat.com’s MMA Quotes feature. Be sure to check out Round 1 and Round 2 if you haven’t already.

We will be bringing you 5 championship rounds of the best mma quotes on the internet. We searched the the top mma news sites, mma forums, and recent events to bring you some of the best quotes from some of MMA’s top fighters.

In round one we brought you some shocking quotes to say the least. Round two’s quotes were a little more serious. Round three’s quotes are a little mix of everything but most of them involve fighters calling out other fighters. All in all I think you will find some of them interesting to say the least.

mma quotes round 3

1. Apparently Pete Sell was not too happy with way George St. Pierre handled himself after losing to teammate Matt Serra. Sell had some less than flattering words to say about St. Pierre in a recent interview with FightTicker.com.

"GSP is an awesome athlete, He has all the tools to dominate, but he is a mental midget. His mentality is very weak."

2. Chuck Liddell recently had some choice words to say about Kimbo Slice’s recent success in the world of MMA or should I say recent increase in popularity.

Kimbo’s one of those guys who doesn’t have any ground game. He’s training and he’s learning but he’s been built up as such a big star and that’s the thing that bothers me. People talk about him like he’s the next great thing when he really hasn’t done anything. He’s been built up because of the Internet and him beating a bunch of guys on the street.”

Liddell joked: “I could make some impressive knockout videos too if you let me walk outside and just punch people and knock them out – “hey you, come fight!”

3. My friend Ben Zeidler’s website IrishWhipFighting.com which is now MMAmadness.com interviewed Randy and Kim Couture a while back at the Xtreme Couture Gym in Las Vegas. When asked her opinion on Kimbo Slice, Kim Couture had something very interesting to say about the "street fighting legend". The story has never been confirmed.

"Also, the funniest thing she said was when I asked her opinion on Kimbo, she said at first she was a bit skeptical, but he came in one day to their gym in Vegas and showed he had a very tough heart and trained hard. Also, him and Forrest sparred and he was KO’d by Forrest and he never came back again!"

4. Apparently things heated up a little on this seasons taping of "The Ultimate Fighter" between Quinton Jackson and Forrest Griffin. When asked about his future opponent, "Rampage" Jackson had this to say about Griffin. Apparently the story of Forrest knocking out Jackson didn’t sit well with the werewolf. This little nugget is thanks to InOutStar.com.

"I like Forrest, but I ain’t got to talk sweet to him and hug up on him every time I see him. I know Forrest gets knocked out at practice sometimes; I know Jardine knocked him out real quick and I know my boy ‘Sick Dog’ almost knocked him out and he wasn’t really even punching. He had Forrest wobbly." Rampage continues on a different occasion, "Forrest has a glass jaw and punches like a crackhead".

5. A lot of MMA website’s including us here at RedSweat.com believe that Anderson Silva is pound for pound the best fighter in the world. Believe it or not, Frank Shamrock doesn’t feel that is the case. Wait a second, Frank Shamrock being cocky? In an interview with the Canadian Press, Frank stated who he thinks is the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

“I think he’s probably one of the best guys in the UFC, but all the best fighters are not in the UFC. So hopefully he can hang onto that and make something out of it and gain some fame. But I have 100 percent confidence if I ran into him, they’d be calling me that guy.”

6. Brothers Nick and Nate Diaz are never short on words when it comes to mixed martial arts and their fights. The younger of the two, Nate Diaz recently submitted Kurt Pellegrino at UFC Fight Night 13" and had some comments for UFC lightweight Tyson Griffin.

"That guy doesn’t want to fight me because he thinks he’s somewhere higher up than me? I just beat a guy that’s better than him. When was the last time he finished a fight anyway’s against any 155 pounder that was half decent on the ground..oh yeah never."

7. Former UFC welterweight champ Matt Hughes recently claimed on his blog that he would be moving up in weight to fight Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at 205lbs in June. He stated that he thought it would be a good match up for him and that if he won he would ask Dana for a shot at the 205lb title next. The next day on April 2, he said this.

"I guess I can officially say, “April Fools!” The part of yesterday’s blog about me moving up to 205 to fight Shogun Rua was just an April Fool’s joke. Sorry to disappoint those of you who might have been looking forward to that."

8. In a recent interview with MMAmadness.com, Frank Shamrock made some statements regarding the use of steroids in MMA. More specifically he took a shot at his brother claiming that Ken Shamrock has used steroids his whole life. He also stated claimed that a percentage of fighters are allegedly using the substance. His brother Ken was obviously unhappy with Frank’s claim and had this to say in retaliation.

"For Frank to state that a majority of fighters use steroids and that the promoters do not care, or that they somehow condone the use of steroids, is unbelievably irresponsible." He later said "I have been subjected to mandatory steroid testing countless times, and I have never tested positive for steroids, nor have I ever refused a test."

9. Joe Rogan had a chance to interview Forrest Griffin in between bouts at UFC Fight Night 13 last Wednesday, April 2. The always funny, Forrest Griffin said this in response to something Rampage said during season 8 of "The Ultimate Fighter". Even Jackson couldn’t hold back his smile after Griffin’s remark.

"Quinton said some bad things about me. He said he was gonna beat me up which is natural and he said I’m the kind of guy that when I wipe I don’t quite get it all. Well I gotta tell you, he’s only half right and I’m not gonna tell you which."

10. BJ Penn’s feelings on his upcoming fight against "The Muscle Shark" Sean Sherk were summed up in 4 short words in his in-octagon interview with Joe Rogan during UFC 80. Penn’s remark didn’t sit well with Sherk who immediately left his commentators seat to join Penn inside the octagon.

"Sean Sherk, you’re dead."

Here goes "Round 2" of RedSweat.com’s mma quotes feature. Just to catch you up a little bit, we are going to have a five round championship war of the quotes.

We kicked off "Round 1" about a month ago and we will be doing a round a month until "Round 5" wraps things up. We scoured the net looking for the most interesting quotes that we could find from some of your favorite fighters. "Round 1" quotes were off the wall and shocking. This round’s quotes are a little more serious.

1. Yushin Okami was impressed by Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s performance at UFC 81. Apparently he was not impressed with Tim Sylvia’s will to survive when he got caught in the jiu-jitsu experts guillotine choke. He seems to believe Americans are quick to tap.

mma quotes

“Minotauro was terrific. That sweep was artistic. I was amazed to see his mental strength and his submission techniques. I found a lot to learn from his fight. I was also surprised to see how quick Sylvia gave up and tapped out though. It seems the American style.”

2. Randy Couture and Dana White are still battling it out outside of the world famous octagon and neither is happy about the situation. To make things worse for Couture the UFC recently banned Couture’s Affliction clothing line from the UFC. Captain America said this in a recent interview.

“I’m simply wanting to pursue the profession that I’m in, which is fighting. And they’re trying to prevent me from doing that, so you tell me who’s wrong or right?”

3. Tim Sylvia has received a lot of criticism for what some believe is his lack of aggression in the ring. Many thought that Sylvia was just trying to get the win and not trying to finish his fights. He definitely earned some respect in his fight with Minotauro at UFC 81. Apparently his fight with Nogueira did nothing to sway Jerome Le Banner into changing his mind about Sylvia’s motives in the cage.

"I want to show US fans what an exciting fighter is, what a fighter who will give them something for their money looks like. It’s obviously something that this fake champion doesn’t know how to do. I will teach him with a four ounce leather glove right in the face. Or maybe I will fix his chicken legs with some good low kicks, I don’t know yet."

4. Frank Shamrock can be a little flagrant at times to put it mildly. He is definitely not afraid to say what he is really feeling. Apparently Jake Shields isn’t either and said this about the former UFC champion.

“Without even thinking twice, I would fight Shamrock at 185,” Shields said. “I’ll fight him at 200 lbs. I’ll fight him any day, any weight.“

5. It’s no secret that Tito Ortiz and Dana White would like to kill each other in their sleep. Tito has voiced his opinion several times on the issue of the UFC not paying it’s fighters enough money. Ortiz recently made an appearance on the Howard Stern show and said this about his arch enemy.

“I’ve worked so hard for (the UFC) and put my ass on the line. I’ve fought injured and with a torn ACL and a bulging disc and still put my ass on the line, and they still don’t show me respect… Dana’s like Don King. The only thing that separates him and Dana White is the color of their skin.“

6. Steve Mazzagatti had the tough job of being the ref for the Brock Lesnar versus Frank Mir fight. There was some controversy surrounding Mazzagatti’s point deduction during the fight. A lot of people thought that he did not give Lesnar a warning before deducting the point. He recently cleared things up in an interview with MMAjunkie.com.

"Yeah, I did. Brock’s excited. It’s a big, big opportunity for him, and — in my opinion — he looked down and saw the head there, and he took three shots at him and caught him. I jump in and say, “Don’t hit at the back of the head.” A few more seconds go by, Mir tucks up under there again, and Brock comes down with the second couple hits to the back of the head. That’s when I jumped in and had to do my job. That’s what I saw."

7. Recently GoWamma.com came out with the first regulated mma rankings system in the sport. Previous rankings were thought to be biased and had no clear cut equation to rank fighters. Dana White spoke on this topic at the UFC 83 press conference in Montreal.

“I said we’d never do that because I figured people would say our rankings are biased,” White told The Sun. “But, when you look around at some of these other rankings that are out there, I think we probably will do our own after all.“

8. Matt Serra will be taking on phenom Georges St. Pierre for the welterweight championship at upcoming UFC 83 in Canada. Here is a quote from Matt Serra during the press conference in Montreal promoting his upcoming fight.

"I never once picked an opponent, I never refused an opponent, and I’m pretty easy going. The fact that it’s in his backyard, hey, as far as I’m concerned, as long as it’s the same cage, I don’t care if it’s in his living room. I’m a professional fighter, and the key word is ‘professional’."

9. After defeating Tim Sylvia at UFC 81, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira became the first person ever to own a UFC and Pride Championship belt simultaneously. The submission master said this in a post fight interview.

“I played his game for almost three rounds. He played my game for two minutes and I won the fight.”

10. Brock Lesnar was defeated by Frank Mir in his UFC debut in only 90 seconds. There was some controversy about the ref stopping the fight to deduct a point from Brock. Brock had this to say immediately following the fight in his locker room.

"I thought it was over right there f***** I jumped on it. That was f***** up. No that takes some wind out of your sail when you get a point taken away."

I spent some time compiling some of the most interesting, off the wall and controversial quotes from some of mma’s top fighters. Lets just say a few of them weren’t afraid to speak their minds. Here go’s round 1.

1. Kimbo Slice was recently asked by a reporter if Tank Abbott’s vast mma experience was a concern.

"Just because a chick in porn has done 100 movies doesn’t mean I’m not going to f— her. I’m still going to get that p—-!"

mma quotes

2. Gary Shaw, president of EliteXC had this to say about the UFC and it’s fighters referring to the fact that they won’t compete against fighters in other organizations.

“If you hold up the belt (in the UFC) all you are is their club champion,” Shaw said. “Until Dana White is willing to fight his fighters against other brands, all they are are club champions.“

3. Georges St. Pierre’s plans on leaving a lasting legacy on the world of mixed martial arts. It’s good to be confident but three weight classes?

"He wants to leave a legacy," Spenser said. "He wants to be the most dominant fighter the UFC and MMA has ever seen, and he intends to accomplish that by dominating the 170-pound weight class, moving up to the 185 weight class and then eventually the light heavyweight class."

4. One week after the Liddell Silva fight, Wanderlei silva said he had more respect for Liddell than he ever had before.

"He’s good, very, very good," Silva said. "People should realize how good, how strong Chuck is. I knew he was good, but he’s better than I thought. He’s big. These guys in the UFC, they’re all so big."

5. Melvin Guillard tells Pramit Mohapatra in an interview with the Baltimore Sun that the beef between him and Clementi at UFC 79 is far from over and that he plans to fight Rich again next time he sees him.

My dad always told me if a man spit on you or slapped you, [expletive deleted] kill him. And if he put his nuts on my head on national TV, I’m going to [expletive deleted] kill him, period.

6. Former heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia was not to happy about Fedor Emelianenko joining M-1 Global instead of the UFC and had this to say about "The Last Emperor".

“I think he’s being a (expletive),”

7. BJ Penn has been blunt to say the least about his feelings on other UFC competition. He had this to say about Hughes vs St. Pierre 3.

"I thought Matt Hughes fought like a pussy. I think he was scared and he let Georges take him down all night long. He was so scared to stand. I think he was still scarred from that knockout a year ago and he didn’t fight."

8. UFC President Dana White talks about the global appeal of mixed martial arts and the ability to market the UFC in other countries successfully.

“I take two guys and put them in the Octagon and they can use any martial art they want. It translates through all different cultural barriers, language barriers… people love fighting.”

9. This is a quote from Matt Hughes new book "Made in America" in which he relays a story told to him by Pat Miletich about the legendary fight between Tito Ortiz and Lee Murray.

“Both their jackets come off, and Tito throws a left hook at Lee Murray and misses, and right as he missed, Lee Murray counters with, like, a five-punch combo, landed right on the chin, and knocked Tito out. OUT."

10. The mma world was shocked when Randy Couture resigned from the UFC. Couture however does want one more fight before he considers his career over. Dana White had this to say after Randy’s resignation.

"I talked to Randy several weeks ago and he said that if he couldn’t fight Fedor, then he has nothing left to prove in the sport of mixed martial arts."

Last but not least I will leave you with my personal favorite quote.

"Pain is just opinion."
