My opinion on some various mixed martial arts topics.

  • (Best Pound-for-pound) Fedor Emelianenko - I think Fedor is the best fighter in the world right now. Although he needs to beat Couture to really solidify it. He is the most dominating and naturally talented fighter I have ever seen.
  • (Most Underrated) Nick Diaz - I don’t think Diaz gets enough credit as a fighter and most newer mma fans wouldn’t even know who he is if you asked them. He is also my favorite mixed martial artist.
  • (Most Overrated) Chuck Liddell - Way overrated, I think the only reason he dominated for so long was because of intimidation and not actually skill. He got into everyone’s head and made them play his game. I’m not saying he isn’t skilled, just that he isn’t as good as everyone thinks he is.
  • (Biggest Head) Matt Hughes - He is probably my least favorite fighter. I learned a lot from The Ultimate Fighter about Hughes and he seems like a real ahole. I also gained a ton of respect for Matt Serra. He seems like a really genuine guy.
  • (Funniest Fighter) Wallid Ismail - No one cracked me up more in their interviews than this guy. Wallid is hilarious. Rampage would be a close second.
  • (Most Insane) Branko Cikatic - If you don’t remember him I’m not surprised. He is 0-2 in mma. He was disqualified in his first match and choked out his second. I will never forget him throwing those elbows to the back of Kerr’s head.
  • (Best Entrance) Genki Sudo - He has some of the greatest entrances of all time. I will never forget his entrance at UFC 42 I believe it was. Too bad he lost the fight.
  • (Best Intro Music) Fedor Emelianenko - He music is by far the best. It sounds like the Mahavishnu Orchestra composed it for him. Nogueira and Rampage have some good intro songs too.
  • (Funniest Fight Ever) Don Frye vs Yoshihiro Takayama - If you have never seen this fight you must see it now. I don’t think I ever cracked up more during a fight. Both fighters just came out, grabbed the back of each others heads and just kept punching non stop for what seemed like forever.
  • (Toughest Opponents) Kazushi Sakuraba - In my eyes a true legend of the sport. He defines the word legend and almost all of his fights have been with top level fighters including Wanderlei Silva three times. Unfortunately he lost all three times.

Disagree? Tell me what you think.
