While April 19 was a monumental day for MMA with the Canadian debut of the UFC, it was also a sad day for the family and brothers of Eric Armstrong, Kenny "Ken-flo" Florian’s trainer at the Sityodtong gym.

Eric Armstrong was killed in a motorcycle accident while driving down I-93 close to the Sityodtong gym. The news was confirmed on Ken-flo’s myspace blog yesterday.

According to theBostonChannel.com Eric was driving his 2006 Ducati near Route 60 when he was ejected from the bike after hitting a concrete barrier and light pole. The 34 year Muay Thai instructor known as "EZ-E" to his friends was declared dead at the scene. He apparently died instantly and did not suffer.

Kenny Florian, Mark DellaGrotte and a few others from the Sityodtong gym received the shocking news on Saturday night following UFC 83.

"He was one of the best trainers at Sityodtong and he opened himself up to me and just showed me everything. Whether it was sparring in the gym, pulling me aside and showing me his new moves or just hanging outside of the gym, I knew he put his heart into everything he said and did. He was smart as hell and crazy as hell. He would do anything for you if he was your friend."

Kenny also stated in his blog that Eric wanted to compete in one MMA fight. His goal was to wear the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gi that Kenny gave him along with a "Kenny Florian" white belt to his match where he would "proceed to Muay Thai the hell out of the guy and KO his opponent".

Rest in peace Eric Armstrong. Our prayers go out to you, your family and your friends.
