Is Jake Rosholt mma’s next big star? Could he be a future UFC champion? Mark Laimon, owner and head jiu-jitsu trainer at Cobra Kai Jiu-Jitsu, seems to think so. According to Laimon he is a genetic freak, a learning freak, he’s made to fight mma and he is going to crush people at 185. One thing is for sure about Rosholt. He can wrestle and he has the credentials to back it up. He is a 3 time All-American NCAA Champion and a 2004 Big 12 Conference champion so the kid can wrestle. |

But can he make a successful transition into one of the most mentally and physically demanding sports in the world. We do know that some of mma’s most successful fighters came from a wrestling background. Randy Couture started out as a wrestler and eventually won a UFC belt in two divisions. Matt Hughes was a wrestler and he became one of the UFC’s most dominant champions of all time if not the most dominant champion ever in the UFC. Jake Rosholt has a shot but even he admits that he has a lot to work on. He has only been training mixed martial arts for about a year but plans on doing "great things" behind the tutelage of Mark Laimon. So far he has had three pro fights and has won all of them. With two knockouts and one submission he is on his way to what could be a spectacular mma career. At only 26 years old time is on his side as he looks to become mma’s next big star. Here is a video of Jake training at Mark Laimon’s Cobra Kai Jiu-Jitsu. |
