Just as we thought UFC Fight Night 13 couldn’t get any better it did. TUF alumni Manny "The Pitbull" Gamburyan has been added to the card and will take on King of the Cage veteran Jeff Cox at the April 2 event.

The Wrestling Observer as well as Cox’s camp have confirmed the bout which will now bring the total number of matches on the card to 12. I guess it’s a good thing that the event has been extended to three hours.

manny gamburyan vs jeff cox ufc fight night 13

UFC Fight Night 13 Live takes place at the Broomfield Event Center near Denver, CO.

Gamburyan is known for his ferocious style and never say die attitude in the ring. On season 5 of "The Ultimate Fighter" Manny made it to the finals but lost to Nate Diaz early in the second round. Unfortunately he sustained a shoulder injury after winning round one of the fight and could not continue. Manny’s next fight was at UFC 79 in December where he quickly reestablished himself as a force to be reckoned with in the lightweight division. It took him only a minute and a half to submit Nate Mohr via an achilles lock that looked like it broke Mohr’s leg.

Cox carries an impressive record of 9-4 with four submissions and four knockouts. The 40 year old Cleveland police officer has only fought once in the UFC and lost via arm triangle choke to Gleison Tibau at UFC Fight Night 10 in June of 07. His last fight was in December where he knocked out Joe Cronin at the IFO’s Fireworks in the Cage IV event.

MMAjunkie.com reported that Houston Alexander vs James Irvin and Clay Guida vs Samy Schiavo have been added to the already talent packed UFC Fight Night 13 card set to take place on April 2.

The Alexander vs Irvin fight was originally suppose to happen in England at the event on March 8 but the UFC abandoned the event which was never officially announced. Instead it will take place at UFN 13 at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, CO which will serve as the lead in for the debut of "The Ultimate Fighter 7".

Ultimate Fight Night 13 is lining up to be one of the best Fight Night cards ever. The main event will feature Kenny "Kenflo" Florian taking on Joe "J-Lau" Lauzon in a highly anticipated bout. In a co-main event "The American Psycho" Stephan Bonnar will square off against Team Punishment’s Matt Hamill. A few other standout bouts include a possible fight between Karo Parisyan vs Thiago Alves and Marcus Aurelio vs Spencer Fisher.

florian lauzon

According to The Fight Network Kenny "Kenflo" Florian will be meeting Joe "J-Lau" Lauzon inside the octagon for UFC Fight Night 13.

Florian’s camp confirmed on Wednesday that the two have verbally agreed to fight in a lightweight match that would headline the Spike TV event. The popular New England fighter’s would be the main event for UFC Fight Night 13 tentatively scheduled for April 2, 2008.

Although the venue has not yet been announced it will not take place in their home state of Massachusetts. Mixed martial arts is still unregulated in the Bay State. Contracts are expected shortly for the fighter’s.

Kenny Florian is on a three fight win streak and came out on top at UFC Fight Night 11 when he submitted Din Thomas in the first round. The brazilian black belt began his UFC career on the first season of "The Ultimate Fighter". He was a small middleweight to say the least and still did very well until falling to "The Nightmare" in the season finale of the show. Florian looks to continue his win streak and will probably be looking to finish this fight early.

Joe Lauzon has recently gained increased popularity from his stint on season 5 of "The Ultimate Fighter". The lightweight sensation became known overnight after knocking out former UFC lightweight champion Jens "Little Evil" Pulver in a lightning quick 48 seconds of the first round. He has continued his rise to the top and previously took care of undefeated Jason Reinhardt in a mere 1:14 at UFC 78 in November.

If this fight is cemented it will be a fierce battle between two of the smartest fighter’s in the division. Both fighter’s are extremely focused and have excellent conditioning. These two possible champion’s in the making will surely lay it all on the line for all to see on April 2.

MMAjunkie.com has also reported that a source, close to the event, told them that a bout between Stephan Bonner and Matt Hamill has been discussed as a possibility for the co-main event at Fight Night 13. A fighter also told mmajunkie.com that Denver, Colorado has been mentioned by UFC officials as an option for the venue. This makes sense considering Dana White recently said that the UFC would branch outside of it’s usual Vegas and Florida locations for Fight Night events in 2008.
