I just saw an interesting topic over at the sherdog forum. Somebody asked if women will ever be in the UFC. I would answer yes. I think eventually as the sport evolves and grows we will see women enter the octagon. I would predict there being maybe one girls match up on the card per event, two at most. Eventually there may even be a separate UFC division for women. At the rate of speed the sport of mma is growing, this could happen sooner than we think and probably within a few years.
Bodog Fight already features girls on there live pay per view events. In fact there are probably a lot more women in mma than you think. I have actually seen some great fights on Bodog featuring some of the sports top fighters like Tara LaRosa, Carina Damm, Shayna Bazler and Amanda Buckner. I must say that I was pretty impressed.
Another organization that features girls on there card is EliteXC. Gina Carano, the organizations top ranking female, is undefeated in her first two appearances at EliteXC. This makes two major mma organizations that feature women already. It won’t be long before they make there way to the UFC. I think there is definitely room in mma for the women. They can be just as exciting as the men in many ways.
