All of the fighters scheduled to compete on EliteXC’s primetime debut on Saturday night made weight at today’s weigh ins held at the Prudential Center in Newark, save one.

Gina "Conviction" Carano, the female star of tomorrow’s event, failed to make the 140lb limit weighing in at 144.5lbs.

Forced to bulk up to 155-170lbs for her role on NBC’s American Gladiators, she was unable to lose enough weight within the three and a half weeks since the final taping of the show. Carano was penalized and forfeited 12.5% of her purse to her opponent, Kaitlin Young who weighed in at 140.5lbs.

ProElite.com recently announced that Nick Serra, Wilson Reis and Chris Liguori have all been confirmed as the first additions to the undercard of the network "primetime" debut of EliteXC CBS Saturday Night Fights on May 31st.

All three of their fights and a total of seven preliminary bouts will be available via live stream for free at ProElite.com. No opponents have been announced as of yet but the entire seven bout undercard is expected to be revealed very soon.

Nick "The Mad Monkey" Serra, brother of former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra, was the second American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Renzo Gracie.

nick serra

He is currently head instructor along with his brother at their family based academy, Serra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This will be Nick’s first fight since defeating Mike Varner at Cage Fury Fighting Championship 5 back in June of 2006.

Wilson Reis is no stranger to black belts as well and currently holds a record of 3-0 winning two of his fights via submission. In his last fight Reis submitted Zach Makovsky via choke early in the second round at the ShoXC Elite Challenger Series in January. Wilson may have the least amount of fights between the trio but what he lacks in cage experience he makes up for with a solid jiu-jitsu background.

Chris Liguori is by far the most experienced of the three with a total of 14 fights to his name. He has fought in multiple organizations and although he has lost half of his fights, cannot be taken lightly. His last two losses came at the hands of rising star, Jim Miller, who finished Chris on both occasions before the sound of the third bell.

He also suffered two losses early in his career to Serra protege, Pete Sell. Liguori definitely needs to get back on the winning track and what better show to do it than EliteXC’s network primetime debut on CBS. Even though he is slated for the undercard it is still a huge fight for the "The Story" and a chance to turn things around.

Don’t go far, we will be posting the full preliminary card for EliteXC on May 31st as soon as it becomes available.
