It looks like Antonio "Big Foot" Silva won’t be defending his freshly acquired EliteXC heavyweight belt anytime soon. The 6′4 300lb giant of a fighter has apparently failed his drug test following his July 26th defeat of UFC vet Justin Eilers to capture the heavyweight title. Silva tested positive for Boldenone, an anabolic steroid used primarily by veterinarians. Silva has been suspended from fighting for one year and will likely lose his belt as a result of the tests since he will be unable to defend the title. The 28 year old Brazilian will also be required to pay a $2,500 fine. |

Silva’s manager Alex Davis has declared "Big Foot’s" innocense on the website Tatame and guarantees that it is all a big mistake. Edwin Dewees Also Positive for Steroids 26 year old Dewees, who lost his Affliction debut to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, had an extremely high level of Nandrolone in his system, much more than any of the other high profile fighters in the past who tested positive. They found 499ng/mL in Edwin’s system, which makes it very difficult to explain according to Douglas. Dewees faces the same punishment as Silva, a one year suspension and a $2,500 fine. The rest of the tests from Affliction and EliteXC came back clean, besides of course Justin Levens was previously reported as testing positive for pain killers. |
