Chris "The Crippler" Leben was sentenced to 35 days behind bars on Thursday less than a month before his bout on June 7th against Michael Bisping.

Sherdog.com confirmed the news with the Clackamas County Circuit Court officials in Oregon earlier today.

Leben is set to be released from jail on May 27 at 9am less than two weeks before his UFC 85 appearance.

Chris turned himself in last week for a probation violation in order to assure that he would get his visa, required for his trip to London. He was on probation for a previous DUI arrest back in 2005. Chris entered the jail on Wednesday evening, May 1st, and was not allowed to post bail because of the probation violation.

Leben has ended his last two bouts decisively, defeating Terry Martin via knockout at Fight Night 11 and Alessio Sakara via TKO at UFC 82 in the first round. He looks to make it three in a row against "The Count" in Bisping’s own back yard. Chris has only lost three of his 11 total fights since his victory over Jason Thacker at "The Ultimate Fighter Finale over two years ago.

Update: The Wrestling Observer confirmed that the Leben vs Bisping fight has been called off. Apparently the UFC already had a back up plan in place in case Chris had to remain in jail for an extended period. Nate Quarry was contacted but couldn’t rise to the occasion because of an elbow injury he suffered during his match with Kalib Starnes in Montreal.

MMAJunkie.com reported today that controversial "Ultimate Fighter 1" cast member, Chris "The Crippler" Leben, is behind bars as of late Wednesday evening after being arrested for a parole violation for a previous DUI offense.

The colorful and outspoken middleweight turned himself in to authorities in order to assure that he would get his visa for his upcoming fight at UFC 85 in London, according to a forum post from T. Jay Thompson, ICON Sport President. Thompson expects that Chris will remain in jail for a period of 8 to 10 days.

Leben cannot post bail because of the probation violation, according to a representative from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. Chris is scheduled to go before the judge at 3pm on Thursday.

Leben is scheduled to take on Michael Bisping in the co-main event of the night at UFC 85 "Bedlam" in London on June 7. "The Crippler" has won his last two UFC bouts in a row, most recently defeating Alessio Sakara via TKO at UFC 82 back in March. It only took Leben a little over three minutes to dismiss off the pro boxer with heavy punches in the first round. Previous to that bout, he knocked out Terry Martin at UFC Fight Night 11 late in the third round.

Like many of the previous TUF alumni, Leben has proved that he is more than just a reality show fighter and that he fits in among the ranks of the UFC’s toughest fighters. Although Chris was overwhelmed in his bout with the champion, Anderson Silva, he has since refocused and matured as a fighter, looking better than ever in his last few bouts. He is much more patient now during his fights and takes his time as opposed to just letting his fist fly.
