Arlovski vs Fedor Official for Affliction “Day of Reckoning”

“The Pitbull” Andrei Arlovski will get his shot at dethroning the greatest heavyweight of all time at Affliction’s encore show “Day of Reckoning” in January.

In addition to confirming the bout, Affliction VP Tom Atencio also confirmed that despite their new partnership with boxing promotion Golden Boy the event will be an all MMA affair.

Atencio spoke with MMARated about their decision to feature MMA matches only.

“We sat down with them and couldn’t come up with a main event boxing match that everyone wanted.”

Affliction “Day of Reckoning,” originally scheduled to take place tonight at the Thomas & Mack Center in Vegas, is now being targeted for January 24th in Anaheim.

Arlovski is just a week out of the cage, successfully defeating former IFL standout Roy Nelson at last weekends EliteXC “Heat” event in Sunrise, FL. “The Pitbull” put “Big Country” to sleep with a big right hand at 3:14 in the second round ending Nelson’s 5 fight win streak.

Emelianenko last fought at Affliction’s debut event “Banned” silencing a lot of the critics with his 44 second disposal of former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia. His impressive victory clinched the first ever WAMMA Undisputed Heavyweight Championship belt.
