Details regarding Affliction’s second show "Day of Reckoning" were disclosed this afternoon by Affliction VP Tom Atencio at a press conference in Vegas.

On top of confirming a partial fight card for the Oct. 11 event, Atencio also confirmed that HDNet will broadcast three preliminary bouts that will air prior to the main seven-bout card.

Atencio officially announced two PPV bouts and two of the night’s three preliminary bouts. The two main card bouts announced were Vladimir Matyushenko vs Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Matt Lindland vs Vitor Belfort. As we stated in the previous post, the Belfort vs Lindland fight depends on the outcome of Vitor’s lingering hand injury.

The two preliminary bouts announced were Jason High vs Mike Pyle and Paul Buentello vs Roy Nelson. IFL heavyweight champion Roy Nelson was originally rumored to be facing Xtreme Couture’s Jay White in what would have been a one-sided affair, but apparently the bout fell apart last minute.

Atencio also revealed that the winner of the main event between Andrei Arlovski and Josh Barnett will likely face the current WAMMA heavyweight title holder Fedor Emelianenko in a future event. Fedor, originally expected to compete on the Oct. 11 card, was stricken from the event due to a hand injury he suffered in his bout with Sylvia.

Update: Aleksander Emelianenko out, Horodecki in
According to MMAJunkie.com, former IFL standout Chris Horodecki has signed a three-fight deal with Affliction. He will make his debut at the Oct. 11 event against a yet to be named opponent.

Due to ongoing licensing issues, Aleksander Emelianenko will not be a part of Affliction’s second event. Atencio said that the organization unfortunately had to move on without him. The Russian has been the center of a media storm surrounding the last minute cancellation of his bout with Paul Buentello at Affliction "Banned."

Following the event, rumors surfaced that Aleksander was forced to withdrawal from the bout after testing positive for Hepatitis B. Aleksander denied the rumors in a video interview and claimed he was simply late in getting his Visa.

Tickets for Affliction "Day of Reckoning" go on sale this Saturday.
